In Canadian federal regulation, a substance listed in Schedule 1 of the Federal Halocarbon Regulations, 2022, alone or in a mixture.
In everyday use, halocarbon refrigerants are the CFCs, HCFCs, HFCs and HFOs. The Federal Halocarbon Regulations, 2022 define a halocarbon as a substance set out in their Schedule 1, whether alone or in a mixture, including isomers. Those regulations apply to systems owned by the federal government, federal works and undertakings, and systems on federal or Aboriginal lands.
