Canada's federal rules on releasing, recovering, leak testing and charging halocarbons for systems under federal jurisdiction.
Registered on 20 May 2022, these regulations apply to systems owned by the federal government, Crown corporations and federal works or undertakings, and to systems on federal or Aboriginal lands (s. 2). Among other things they prohibit release (s. 3), prohibit charging a system with a halocarbon to leak test it (s. 9), require a leak test and repair before charging (s. 10), require recovery during installation and service (s. 15), set annual leak tests for large systems (s. 17), and require a detected leak to be dealt with within seven days (s. 18).
Most privately owned equipment in Ontario is regulated provincially under O. Reg. 463/10, so confirm which regime applies to the site.
