The heat exchanger where hot refrigerant vapour gives up heat and condenses to liquid.
Discharge vapour from the compressor enters the condenser, sheds superheat, condenses at its saturation temperature and leaves as subcooled liquid. Anything that limits heat rejection (dirty coil, failed fan, recirculated discharge air, non-condensables) raises condensing temperature and head pressure.
