Liquid line filter driers trap moisture and debris before they reach the metering device. Suction line driers are used for clean-up after a compressor burnout. Replace the drier whenever the system is opened. A restricted drier shows a noticeable temperature drop from inlet to outlet, sometimes with sweating or frost at the outlet.
